2006-07-23 15:41:46 ** Vail ** The story of Lord St. George Gore, after who the mountain range got its name. In the 19th century, he travelled to America to hunt. To do this in the highest level of luxury possible, he brought 40 servants, 27 wagons, five of which held his guns and ammunition and 120 horses. He supposedly killed around 4000 bison, 1200 deer and elk and 40 bear. Instead of hunting to eat, he left the carcasses to rot.
