Germany 2010

Germany vacation April 1st through 23rd 2010. The trip was extended by the icelandic volcano by a few days. We went to Oldenburg, Bad Zwischenahn, Hamburg, Laboe, Kiel, Lübeck, Munich, Walsrode, Bremerhaven and Groningen in the Netherlands.

Auxiliary Engine Room The auxiliary engine room contains the two control stations for the engines of 2500 hp each. On the right side the main switchboard for the monitoring of the generators is situated. The control stations were developed in 1942/43. All switching actions could be done with only one large handwheel (drive range switch) via switch cams. Next to the dome bulkhead on the right is a large number of instruments combined in a panel. These are required for the monitoring of the diesel engines.
