Most commonly known as the Cadillac Hotel, it is a fitting location for Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park, as it once housed stampeders. Severly damaged by the Nisqually earthquake in 2001, the building was in danger of being torn down. Preserved through a creative public / private partnership with Historic Seattle, an architectural preservation organization, the Cadillac is a testament to Seattle's strong preservation ethics.
